reflection post vance

This quarter was possibly my most favorite quarter to blog about, mostly because of all of the cool things that we have been doing this quarter. Some examples are: bodies reviled and the dissection of the hearts. Despite all of this I have had some difficulties in blogging. of all problems that I have had, the hardest to overcome was getting my posts and comments done on time or at all ( as you can see because this post is one day late).

Blog post,

Today in Science class (the 28th) we prepared our selves foe the dissection of either the cow's, pig's or calf's heart. We, as a class made a model chart about the respiratory system, the digestive system and the nervous system. On our chart we had the three systems and the function and parts of each system in it's own collum. Secondly, we were told that is that time when the quarter ends and we need to make our reflection post for science, also we still need to make our comments to the 6th, 7th and, 8th grade blogs and we will be blogging next year in 8th grade. But for our comments, we are not allowed to comment on other people's reflection post. For homework all that we needed to do was to
1) read the diagrams of the digestive system and of the respiratory system
2) study for the test on Wednesday!

Reflection post

The hardest and most dificult part of bloging during this quarter for me was writing for the 8th grade blog. The reason for this is that I did not understand some of the astronomy which was talked about in their blog. Also, I found that it was slightly difficult for me to transition from Science to astronomy. What i liked about this quarter was that we were not required to make any major comments, and we were able to comment on the blogs of people that we do not know (Canada).

Blog post before the break

Hello, in this blog post I will be covering the 2 days before the winter break (Thursday and Friday).

On Thursday, the class took a test on forces, such as Newton’s laws. The test consisted of math questions, think questions, force diagrams, definitions and two bonus questions. This time Ms. D made the test infinitely harder to cheat, by making three separate versions of the tests. (Alpha, Beta & Eta)

On Friday (the short period) we were put back into our groups. (Reza, Bryce, and Viktor

Alix, Vance, and Cip

Laura, Antonia, and Iva

Fabi, Emilie, and Giovanna

Noam, Erik, and Kat)

In our groups we continued to toil on the task of making our balloon win the competition. The categories were: the furthest flight, the fastest and to make your balloon go out at least 4 meters and come back. Enjoy your break!

Science Class on the 4th of February, 2010

Hey Everyone,
Yesterday we started our balloon rocket projects. Don't forget that this is a competition. There are three categories that we should try to go for. They are the fastest, the farthest, and the balloon that can go and come back in the opposite direction. On Tuesday we will be continuing this Challenge.
The pairs are (in case you forgot):
Reza, Bryce, and Viktor
Alix, Vance, and Cip
Laura, Antonia, and Iva
Fabi, Emilie, and Giovanna
Noam, Erik, and Kat
Something we did in class was that we checked the momentum math sheet #2. Momentum math sheet 2 was a sheet that you could have used the text book.
Don't forget we have a quest next Thursday. It is on forces NOT motion.

Reflection post (vance)

I think the muddiest point in this blog for me was not the scribe post but the comments. I thought that the comments were hardest because I only did one minor post before the day before it was due. I hope it is easier for me next semester.

The first science class since the break

Today is 01/22/10 and the first class since the break.
Today we learned to make a line graph that will correctly show acceleration. To do this you make the x-axis time and the y-axis speed. We Also learned to make a best fit line or curve. to do so you draw a line or curve through the graph that follows the general direction of the points on the graph. For the class, Ms.D assigned three people to take notes on the computers. the three people were
Noam : Notes A
Reza : notes B
Viktor : notes C
Today in science we also started a new unit, Physics.
for this unit our vocab words are
Force
Newton
Net Force
Unbalanced Forces
Balanced Forces
Friction
Static Friction
Sliding Friction
Rolling Friction
Fluid Friction
Gravity
Mass
Free Fall
Air Resistance
Terminal Velocity
Projectile
Inertia
Momentum
Law of Conservation of Momentum
Satellite
Centripetal Force
Today's science homework was to graph the data on the sheet you were given only for the ping pong ball. For the graph you should
-make a line graph
-include the best fit curve
-circle outliers
-label the X and Y axis
-label the title
and write a paragraph including acceleration, deceleration, ping pong ball, time, speed, correlation and best fit curve. This paragraph should include one sentence of support that includes outliers.
